Booth Exhibition at MST2000 and Questionnaire on STOC and SpecC Technology(Nov.15,2000)

STOC held a booth exhibition at MST2000 which was held at Tokyo Big Site from Nov. 15 till Nov. 17. In the STOC booth, we exhibited panels on the SpecC technology, we handed out a leaflet introducing STOC activities, and gathered questionnaires form the visitors. We handed out reprints of the July special issue of the Design Wave Magazine on the SpecC language to those who answered to the questionnaires. Though there were quite a lot of visitors who have not heard about the SpecC technology, we could draw their interest in the technology by the panels and explanations.

There were so many visitors to the STOC booth, about 250 persons answered to the questionnaire among them. The results of the questionnaire are shown below. The percentage of the embedded software engineers is greatest, and they are interested in the application of the SpecC technology to the development of the embedded software. At the same time, the percentage of the LSI engineers is as great as 20%, and they are interested in the application of SpecC to the SOC development.

About 70% of the people have heard about the SpecC technology or STOC, which is very high percentage. One year after the foundation of STOC, it seems that SpecC technology is acknowledged among the embedded system industry. Though there are many people who have heard about SpecC, just 10% of the people know very well about SpecC. We feel that we still need to strongly promote SpecC technology. We will make use of the result of the questionnaire for the future activities of STOC.
